Sanguinello Blood Orange (Citrus Sinensis)

DESCRIPTION

This tree stands out among the other citruses of the Sinensis family for the colour of its fruits: externally, its peel is of a bright orange, with light red streaks, while internally its pulp is blood-red (feature that gives the orange its name).

USES AND FUN FACTS

The Sanguinello Blood Orange is suitable for pot growing, thanks to its vigor and to its drooping branches, marked by a deep green foliage. As with other citrus trees, the Sanguinello blooms in Spring and its sweet-scented flowers usually grow in bunches, although they can also be single whenever the tree does not receive adequate pruning during its unproductive phase.

WEATHER RESISTANCE

Although it belongs to the Sinensis family, we recommend sheltering the Sanguinello with a simple sheet in case of long-lasting low temperatures, under -4 °C.
