SAN FELICE – OIL VARIETY
The name San Felice refers to the Benedectine abbey of Saint Felix in Giano dell’Umbria.
Quite vigorous tree with spreading growth habit and a high and constant production. Fruits are green, elliptic, slightly asymmetrical. Endocarp is elliptic and slightly asymmetrical, with its maximum diameter in central/terminal position. It has a very limited self-fertility, so it needs pollinator cultivars. It starts blooming a bit earlier than the cultivars Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo (2-3 days before). The abortion of the ovary rate is medium (around 30%). It has a medium sensitivity to frost, to bird’s eye spot disease and to the olive fruit fly, while it has a low sensitivity to scab.
It has quite an early starting age of fructification, and has a good and constant productivity.
