The Imperial Lemon is a lemon and grapefruit hybrid. It is very vigorous and has beautiful large deep green leaves. The Imperial Lemon can bloom many times a year, its bright white flowers grow in bunches and are bigger than those of a classic lemon tree. Its fruits are as big as those of a grapefruit, but they have the same characteristics of a lemon in terms of juice, although the latter has a bitter aftertaste.
USES AND FUN FACTS
Being a hybrid, the Imperial Lemon’s fruits have a higher percentage of useful vitamins in their juice, in nutritional terms; plus, their thick but tender peel makes them ideal for being used in cooking, both to candy cakes and to season salads.
The only sore point of this wonderful variety is its low weather resistance in case of temperatures below 1 °C., so we recommend sheltering it in winter.
