ASCOLANA – OIL VARIETY

CULTIVAR:

Oliva Ascolana del Piceno (Ascolana Olives from the province of Ascoli-Piceno) is a PDO fruit and vegetable Italian product.

CHARACTERISTICS:

The appellation Oliva Ascolana del Piceno refers to both pickled olives and stuffed olives, the typical Piceno product made with the cultivar Ascolana Tenera Olive Tree. In order to get this appellation, those olives need to be produced in an area that includes most of the province of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo and part of the province of Teramo.

PRODUCTION:

Areas with a variable altitude between 20 and 500m are particularly suitable for their production, with a clayey and calcareous soil and with a sub-alkaline pH.
