Abelia

DESCRIPTION:

Abelia is an evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub. It usually has a rounded growth habit and often reaches more than 1m in height. Its reddish stems are quite long with few branches, and the more they grow, the more they get arched. Under normal conditions, its flowering is abundant and long-lasting, which is why Abelia is highly valued as a garden plant.

Flowering begins in June and ends in August.

Its flowers are sometimes tubulous, sometimes bell-shaped and placed near the side buds. Abelia’s flowers develop into a woody fruit, which has one single seed.

WEATHER RESISTANCE

Abelia likes temperate climates best, but it can live in colder climates as well, not below -5 °C. It is mandatory to protect this shrub from cold winds, so we recommend planting it in sheltered positions.
